Rangers New Era

[Photo of Rangers book in Glasgow Antiques shop]I RECENTLY STROLLED THROUGH AN ANTIQUES MARKET AND SPOTTED THIS ANCIENT BOOK.

The book is inside a case with other antique bric-a-brac.  It is clearly an old book, judging by its dust jacket. Odd that it was entitled,

“RANGERS
THE NEW ERA”

Ironic, I suppose, considering recent developments. yes, Glasgow has a rich and varied history, and eventually it all gets washed up in bargain buckets, car-boot sales and antique shops as so much bric-a-brac.

Rangers’ Fans as Pals

IN A GLASGOW CARD SHOP FOR VALENTINE’S DAY, I NOTICED A STRANGE SIGN.

[Picture of card shop sign]A Blue Nose Friend (in Glasgow) is a pal who is a Rangers’ Fan. While it may be true that “Everyone needs friends”, it is debatable that we all need friends who support Glasgow Rangers!

The Price of Sectarian Wine

THIS IS NOT JUST WINE, THIS IS SECTARIAN WI[Picture of wine display at M&S]NE FROM MARKS AND SPENCER.

I noticed the prominent display of wine near the check-outs on Sauchiehall Street’s M&S.  Named “Vin de Pays du Gers”, this tipple would appeal to the Gers fans, and is competitively priced to compete with the more usual swally, Buckfast.

Things are, however, getting worse when M&S decide to price this wine at £16.90 for ten.
