Flaked off

INFORMATION ON FOOD PACKS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE USEFUL.

The responsibility shifts from the shop and the manufacturer to the consumer and purchaser; you have been told what’s in the food, so it’s up to you from them on.

OK, well, how come I was in Tesco the other day, and I wanted to base my buying decision on amount of fat, calories, and so forth. I needed the information to compare between brands of cornflakes… however there were two sizes of a well-known cornflake brand — and the nutritional information was different — how come? It’s the same brand, the same product, surely the only difference was the size of the box?

So I took out my camera to prove it — see for yourself. Click pictures to enlarge.

One has Fat at 0.3g and less than one per cent of daily amount, the other has Fat at 0.3g and zero percent!

One has Saturates at a Trace and less than one percent of the daily amount, while the other has Saturates at 0.1g and zero per cent, and only one of the boxes had Iron!

This is a single example (I cannot walk round a supermarket taking pictures) that can serve to illustrate the point that the information creates dubiety and uncertainty. Things are getting worse!

Broken Toys 4 Us

[Picture of toy box display]I AM ALWAYS AMAZED THAT STORES DO NOT SEE WHAT IS GOING ON.

How can a store hope to catch shoplifters if they cannot see the problems with their displays? I am fed up with goods that have no prices, and goods that are misplaced under wrong prices and descriptions. It really is tedious, and it is getting worse.

[Picture of broken toy box lids]My Christmas shopping brought me to a toy store where I saw toy boxes. Please click on the pictures to enlarge.

Yes, all the lids are broken (not a sure sign of good quality) — but look too at the price tags and descriptions. The nearest one states

BLUE CRATE WITH
RED FOLDING LID 75LT
12.99″

This is where you will find a blue crate with a BLUE lid. Now look along at the next one — the one under the RED crates with the BLUE lids, it states:

“UNDERBED BOX BLUE
WITH BLUE HANDLES
8.99″

No-one seems to have thought of how a customer would be able to reach up to the top box safely.

[Picture of Spiderman Monopoly]I could have taken dozens of pictures, but despite their obvious bad eyesight, someone would have eventually spotted me snapping away, so this will have to serve as an illustration. However, I did manage a quick snap of this inexplicable product on my way out. yes, it’s Spiderman Monopoly! Quite how one is reconciled with the other is just beyond my imagination. I gave it a pass.

This is a world going slowly mad.
