Exploiting Natural Dyslexia

[Picture of shop poster]THE WAY THE MIND WORKS MEANS THAT YOU CAN BE UNCONSCIOUSLY EXPLOITED.

You don’t have to be officially dyslexic to read clothing as closing if the font is narrow and the context is a shop’s sale. These are austere times, and many shops are actually closing down.

I think anyone would be forgiven for thinking the poster said CLOSING DOWN SALE. What do you think?

Soup Seasoning

[Picture of winter soup for summer]IT IS SUMMER, BUT THE WEATHER IS VERY WET.

How nice of the folks at Wholefoods to offer us Winter Minestrone Soup for “quick Summer suppers”.

Yeah, thanks for that!

Douglas Street Parking Chaos

douglas_streetROAD PLANNERS HAVE GOT IT WRONG ON DOUGLAS STREET, GLASGOW.

Douglas Street is a steep hill, it is one-way going up. Nevertheless, the designated car parking bays are angled awkwardly.

This causes chaos at rush hour as cars wanting to park have to drive up beyond the bays and reverse in to the angled spaces.

It would be far simpler if the angled bays were the other way, of if parking was parallel or perpendicular (there is sufficient space).

Things are getting worse when the obvious is missed by so-called town planners and traffic managers!

Concertina Door Notice

I WAS CONFUSED BY A NOTICE IN GLASGOW.

I thought it stated: 2HUACS — but what could that mean? If I had been coming form the opposite direction, it would have read, 4ORCES.

Only when you are facing directly in front of the door is it possible to read the actual message: 24 HOUR ACCESS (by which time, it would probably be too late).

Thing are getting worse when everyday life is made more difficult by the addition of cryptic conundrums in street signs.

Cheap Drink

[Picture of a bottle of Oasis]I NOTICED THE FOLLOWING ON A BOTTLE OF OASIS.

I’LL GO WITH
ANYTHING

[Picture in close up of Oasis bottle phrase]

Does it? Does it really?  I am not so sure a whisky and Oasis would be nice. I’m not convinced that Oasis would be a nice accompaniment to a fancy meal in a three-Michelin-Star restaurant.

Things are getting worse when claims like this can be blatantly made in broad daylight.  It is an outrage!

Street Trompe L’oeil

[picture of Glasgow street trompe l'oeil]I HAVE NOTICE QUITE A FEW ARTISTIC ENDEAVOURS ON THE STREETS OF GLASGOW LATELY.

Perhaps it is an attempt to prevent graffiti. It is quite hilarious.

Click on the pictures to enlarge.
