A BLACKBOARD SIGN OUTSIDE A GASTRO PUB IN GLASGOW CAUGHT MY ATTENTION.
I just had to take a photograph with my trusty cameraphone. Click on image to enlarge.
It states:
“TODAY’S SPECIALS
CURRIED COCONUT WINGS £3.50
STICKY ANGOSTURA RIBS £4.50
HAGGIS BONBONS £2.95
HAGGIS, NEEPS+ TATTIES £5.00″
Now, I don’t know about you, but I have never known a coconut to have wings. In fact these specials are notable for being very special indeed. Most peculiar indeed.
What made me laugh the most was that the dearest thing on the menu is the most normal and most mundane. Haggis with turnip and mashed potatoes is a standard, basic, Scottish meal.
Bonbons indeed!
